Hi! I’m Martina Cesenarro, I’m 18 years old and I live in a very small town in the north of Argentina. I’m currently in my first year of university, studying Architecture.
I’ve always been curious about other cultures and ways of thinking, so I’m really happy to take part in this experience and to share our projects.

Tell us what the water concern in your country is!

In my city, there is no potable water distribution plant. We depend on a precarious treatment facility that hasn't been updated in over a century and doesn't meet the demands of our growing population. As a result, water is scarce and unsafe to drink, yet many people have no choice.

I believe our future would improve if everyone with access to potable water fully recognized their privilege. Raising awareness among wealthier groups and promoting responsible consumption are essential to reduce waste and ensure sustainable water use for all.

Circular Water Reuse and Purification System

We created a compact, low-energy system that treats and makes kitchen greywater safe to reuse by combining electrocoagulation, UV light, and multi-stage filtration. It fits under the sink and automatically operates with an Arduino Mega board, reducing water use by up to 83%. In our hometown, Belén, Catamarca — a region affected by water scarcity and poor water quality — kitchens consume around one billion liters of water each year. Our system could recover up to 900 million liters annually, offering a sustainable and affordable way to improve water use, reduce the demand for clean drinking water, and minimize pollution.
