I am Saraa Ahmed Omar from Anabta Girls Secondary School. I have completed the tenth year of my studies and I am grateful that God has enabled me to represent my country, Palestine, in these international countries. The beginning of my journey was with teacher Tahani Abu Riya and the programming clubs from which we learned how to program and assemble parts and how to write scientific research.
Tell us what the water concern in your country is!The water problem in Palestine is one of the most serious challenges, as the country suffers from severe water scarcity due to the Israeli occupation, which controls more than 85% of Palestinian water resources, such as the Jordan River, springs, and groundwater wells. Regarding leakage, it is estimated that 30%-40% of water is lost in Palestinian distribution networks due to leakage. This is a result of the aging infrastructure, Israeli attacks, and the difficulty of maintaining the networks in Area C, which is under Israeli control. This loss exacerbates the water crisis and weakens the Palestinians' ability to benefit from their already limited share.
This is what I think is one of the solutions for a sustainable future:EDM is a smart system that detects water using sensors and a mobile robot that removes roots damaging the pipes. It sends data to the authorities and automatically shuts off the pump to prevent water loss.
