How to Compete

If you’re excited to enter the competition, your first step is to connect with your national organizer, who will guide you through the process in your country. If you want to see what others have done or get inspired, you can visit WaterTank, our exclusive online community for past and present competitors, to learn more and connect.

Who Can Participate?

The Stockholm Junior Water Prize is for young minds aged 15 to 20 years old who are currently attending secondary high school or its equivalent. Note that you cannot submit a project if enrolled at a university. Whether you’re working alone or with a team, we welcome your brilliance, though a maximum of two students can represent the project in Stockholm.

What Kind of Projects Are We Looking For?

We’re seeking innovative projects that aim to improve water in any way. This includes efforts in water quality, water resources management, water protection, water and wastewater treatment, as well as water education and the social aspects of water.

Your project can tackle issues at a local, regional, national, or even global level. We encourage practical projects in technology, natural sciences, and social sciences, using innovative development methods and approaches to solve real water problems.

All projects must be research-oriented, using scientifically accepted methods for investigation, experimentation, monitoring, and reporting results. Whether your project is theoretical, applied science, or focused on solving community water problems, we want to see your fresh ideas!

Only projects nominated by their national organizer in each participating country are eligible to compete internationally.

Join us and be part of the solution for a water-wise world!
